Born 1945 in Delhi, Jai Zharotia had his professional training in fine art at the Delhi College of Art. He worked on Children’s educational project at Bal Bhawan in the early 70s before joining the College of Art as a lecturer. He recently retired as professor and Head of the Department of fine Arts.
Jai is recipient of several award ranging from Sahitya Kala Parishad Award in Graphics in 1979 and Silk Screen Prints in 1980 to AIFACS Award for Ceramics and Drawing in 1987 and in 1993 Lalit Kala Academi’s National Award in painting.
He has participated in several group shows and workshops in India and abroad. His work has been exhibited in nearly 25 solo shows abroad covering Chicago(Vedanta Gallery), London (Arks Gallery), Amsterdam (School Gallery) and in Germany.
Jai’s works are part of numerous institutional and private collections across the country and abroad. He works from his home in Haryana, where he lives with his family.
